Integral Bodywork® recognizes the interconnected whole-body, whole-person nature of human existence. Like the internet-connected global community, any symptom going on with one part of the body or person involves and affects the rest of the whole. For this reason, any effective therapeutic modality must encompass and address the entire body or person in order to achieve the meaningful, long-lasting resolution of symptoms and such resolution should of necessity support positive changes in other aspects of the body or person.
CONNECTIVE TISSUE IS THE INTERNET OF THE BODY
The primary focus of our work is the connective tissue web which forms the matrix of the human body. The condition of this all-pervasive, all-inclusive web is increasingly understood to be responsible for much of our physical, psychological, emotional and spiritual health and wellbeing. Ida P. Rolf, the founder of Rolfing® was one of the first western alternative health practitioners to call attention to the central role of connective tissue or fascia in the body’s overall functioning. Further research over the years has served to broaden and deepen our understanding around her initial intuitions and efforts.
